Do any of these categories describe you?
- The student who has never flown before and wants to fly for fun or to further their business interests.
- The student who started somewhere else, but, for whatever reason, wasn’t able to finish.
- Licensed pilot wanting to add an additional Certification or Rating.
- The student interested in pursuing an aviation career.
- Looking for an airplane to rent?
No matter which type of student or pilot you are, we stake our reputation on our experience in getting you into the program that best fits your needs and schedule.
Initial FAA Pilot License
The first license for the majority of pilots is a Private Pilot certificate. The private license is designed for students of all ages. This license allows you to fly for pleasure or business purposes. Once you earn the license, you can take friends and family along with you to share the experience.
Are you looking to fly strictly for fun? The Recreational License is a good entry-level certification if you are on a tight budget. It allows you to take a passenger and fly anywhere in the local area within 50 miles of the home airport. In addition, the recreational license is an excellent program for the spouse of a pilot. This level of certification gives you confidence and will help you to assist your pilot when traveling.
The Instrument Rating is one of the most important certifications you can receive. This rating allows you to get from one airport to another when weather conditions are less than the minimum required for flight under visual conditions. This training will show you how to use your aircraft’s instruments to provide you with information about your position along the selected route of flight.
In addition, you will learn approach and departure procedures to get you safely through a cloud layer and on to your destination. Many students obtain the instrument rating simply to increase their level of proficiency and confidence when flying VFR. It is especially useful when unexpected weather arrives at your home airport before you do.
Keys to the Instrument Rating: Ground and Simulator Training
To take your piloting skills to the next level, ground and simulator training are imperative. Using the time tested method of introducing new material on the ground, then working through the procedures in the simulator will help you be better equipped when it comes time to take your new skills to the airplane. This approach will save you time, money and a lot of frustration, making the time spent flying the airplane much more enjoyable.
If your instructor is having you go to the airplane and fly approaches from the beginning, you’re at the wrong school. We’ve reviewed too many logbooks over the years to know that a VOR or ILS approach on your first or second lesson is not the best place to start.
Our approach will keep your cost to a minimum. Discover how easy it is to get started by speaking with one of our course advisors today at (817) 717-1819. We are standing by and look forward to your call.
We also invite you to come in with your logbook or email it to us at IFReval@americanpilotacademy.com, and we will conduct a free logbook evaluation. Many students have elected to come in for a simulator evaluation, which enables us to provide a comprehensive estimate that includes the projected cost and time to complete your instrument rating. Conventional and glass cockpit options are available.
Turn your hobby into a profession. A Commercial Pilot certificate allows you to do many things as an aviation professional. The commercial license is required if you have an interest in becoming a flight instructor, flying professionally as a corporate or airline pilot, or even crop dusting. Adding a new level of certification is also an excellent way to improve your piloting skills and take care of your next Flight Review (BFR). The commercial license is VFR flying at its best. Who knew you could have this much fun in an airplane?

Flight Instruction is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. Sharing your knowledge and experiences with your students and other pilots is what keeps aviation flying high.

Airline Transport Pilot (ATP)
The ATP is a pilot’s equivalent to a Ph.D. Once you have logged 1,500 hours of flying under a variety of different conditions, you will likely meet the FAA experience required to take the ATP flight test. It is not uncommon for a pilot with this level of experience to pass the flight test with only a review flight or two. If this describes you, what are you waiting for? Flight tests can be scheduled any day of the week with minimal notice. Call today and add the ATP to your resume.
Is it already that time again? If the time has come for you to get or remain current, we have just the answer.
